Elixir Community is run by Tomasz Tomczyk, the controller of newsletter personal data. We use your email address to send its newsletter. Contact us at hello@elixir.community about your data.
Signing up
We ask for your email address and send a confirmation email. You must confirm before receiving the newsletter (double opt-in). We use your consent as the UK GDPR basis for newsletter emails. You can withdraw it at any time through the unsubscribe link in an email.
Where your data is held
Plunk holds your email address, newsletter contact record and consent status and sends our emails. Plunk is the only store of newsletter signup and confirmation state. We do not store newsletter email addresses in a Cloudflare database.
How long we keep it
We keep newsletter contact data while you are subscribed and as needed to respect an unsubscribe request. Pending, unconfirmed contacts in Plunk may remain until we delete them manually. You can ask us to delete your data.
Confirmation links are digitally signed and expire after 24 hours. They are not stored on the server and cannot be individually revoked or marked as used. While a link is valid, pressing Confirm can subscribe an existing contact again, even after an unsubscribe. A link cannot recreate a deleted contact.
Email tracking
Plunk tracks when our newsletter emails are opened and when links in them are clicked. This tracking is enabled for all emails sent from our Plunk project.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data, restrict how it is used, or receive it in a portable format, where those rights apply. You can withdraw your newsletter consent at any time. Write to hello@elixir.community. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Website analytics and security
Cloudflare hosts this website. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for aggregate visits, page views and performance information, without analytics cookies. Cloudflare Turnstile checks newsletter signup requests for bots and abuse; its security checks process technical browser and network information. We use these services to understand and protect the site. The signup form uses Cloudflare Turnstile; see Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
International processing
Cloudflare and Plunk process data for us. Their processing can involve countries outside the UK and EEA. Plunk states that its primary storage is in the EEA and email delivery uses Amazon SES, which may involve international processing. Cloudflare operates a global network. Their privacy information is available from Cloudflare and Plunk.
Other websites
Resource links take you to other websites. Their privacy policies apply there. This page describes the newsletter signup; we will update it if that process changes.
